Strategic Sourcing Europe

Though the impact of sustainable development in the supply chain and procurement has been on HEC radar screen for already 4 years, the french HEC School of management has decided to expand their research with the support of Ariba - duly represented by an eProcurement/eSourcing pioneer Pierre Francois Thaler, currently director of managed procurement services at Ariba France, and formerly CEO and co-founder of B2Build, a European construction e-Marketplace – and to survey the top 300 European procurement organizations about sustainable development and procurement. The objective of the survey is straightforward and compelling: identifying the tools (KPI’s, suppliers audits, risk assessment systems…) which will help the better an organization to make Sustainable Procurement practices a reality.

In its latest report – and this explains this new survey – the HEC School of Management was reporting following findings:

62% of Chief Procurement Officers indicated that implementation of Sustainable Development was an important priority……but in the same response 61% of them also complained that they were lacking the tools, standards and cost-effective solutions to implement this strategy.
